"Even though I have good doctors from a major medical center, your guidance dramatically improved my care. You helped find my unexpected second cancer, found expert surgeons to do my mastectomy and breast reconstruction, and helped convince my HMO to pay for an out-of-network doctor. I hate to think what might have happened if you hadn't been there to guide my care." - Sher M.
"I have only the highest praise for Dr. Chiaramonte and the contribution that she made to my life and my health. Thanks to her research and support I was able to discuss the most current medical literature with my doctor, ask the right questions, and make the decision that was best for me. Thanks to Dr. Chiaramonte I was prepared and my fear, incredibly, was minimized." - Evan S., PhD
"The Personalized Health Portfolio is the missing link that I need to optimize my relationship with my doctors and improve my health. It is an indispensible tool that helps my doctors to be more efficient and more effective. Most importantly, it helps us to work together as a team to keep me as healthy as possible." - Joanne Q.
"When my 93 year old mother had a serious fall with a possible fracture, I was overwhelmed and afraid. Would she get emergency surgery? Should I immediately fly across the country to help her? I didn't know what to do or who to turn to for help. When you found out that she had a compression fracture of her spine and told me what to expect, I felt much better. You helped me to understand how to best help my mother and gave me back a feeling of control." - Harriet R.
"When you helped me explain my symptoms to my doctors, I know that it improved my care." - Molly R.
"Dr. Chiaramonte has the warmth, caring and interpersonal perceptiveness of an old fashioned 'Dr. Welby' type. She combines it with the intelligence, medical knowledge and resources that are required to navigate the often murky waters of today's medical system. I can't thank her enough." - Evan S., PhD
"Dr. Chiaramonte is fantastic! I already had great confidence with being in medical and hospital situations because of other serious family health needs. However, when my husband was diagnosed and treated for cancer, I felt the great loss of his partnership. Although I still felt confident in dealing with the doctors and hospital, I didn't need to feel the burden of being the one who needed to think of all the details. Dr. Chiaramonte had great instincts and boundaries in following my lead in asking questions of the doctors and nurses. She provided a great shoulder to lean on - someone who knew the significance and details of the issues, was emotionally connected to us, but also able to provide emotional support in a different way than other family or friends. We also had many valuable talks about many things - the medical system, questions to ask, my fears, the future, and taking care of myself. Her companionship and friendship during many difficult months was more than I would have imagined." - Sherrie N.
"Dr. Chiaramonte was absolutely invaluable to me during office visits during my cancer treatments. Since she is herself a doctor, she knows the vocabulary and can ask the question as one colleague to another the way a lay person could never do. It would often happen that she would be introduced as Delia, our friend, and when she would ask questions, the doctors would not even bother to ask if she was a doctor. They would just start addressing her as one colleague to another. If that was all she had to offer, it would have been more than enough. But, she also has tremendous heart and a very deep intuitive grasp of any situation. Therefore, it would be hard to quantify her value in these situations. The combination of these qualities makes Dr. Chiaramonte an almost magical personality. And she did not pay me any money to say all this! I would gladly tell anyone." - Paul Y.
"In January of 2007 I was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a lime. It was found adjacent to the pituitary and we had no idea if it had invaded the brain, or if it was malignant. The diagnosis left my entire family anxious and overwhelmed. Where does one start? What questions do you ask your doctor? What do we need to know about our insurcance coverage? These questions can be daunting even if you do have some medical knowledge, but for those of us who do not, facing such an illness seems terrifying. In Dr. Chiaramonte, however, we found someone who could guide us in finding the right specialists, offer suggestions about how to discuss treatment options, and evaluate the efficacy of each. Dr. Chiaramonte's medical expertise provided us with invaluable information and allowed us to speak with confidence to the myriad of specialists who now populate our lives. But Dr. Chiaramonte did not just provide needed information, it truly is her comprehensive approach to her clients that comforted my family and I as we struggled to face this illness together. Dr. Chiaramonte's warmth, care and genuine concern is evident in everything she does. As a patient advocate you could find no one more equipped to help you and your family face the challenges before you. My family and I owe a great deal to Dr. Chiaramonte's compassionate and intelligent care. We are grateful that she is in our lives and highly recommend her to others facing similar health challenges." - Adriane R.
"Dr. Chiaramonte was one of my faculty members when I was in residency. She is a master teacher, and honestly, one of the reasons I decided to go into academics. She made me believe...I could do this. Not only is she one of the best teachers I've come across, but also a great physician. She has the heart and soul of a healer." - Adam D., M.D.
"My husband had been in constant pain for almost 2 years. At first he would only complain about it now and then but over time the pain became more and more debilitating. He became less and less able to participate in physical activities with our family. He had several radiologic evaluations and tried many interventions suggested by his doctors but nothing provided him with significant relief. He became more and more despondent and we finally thought to consult with Dr. Chiaramonte. She spent a great deal of time listening to my husband and recommended an intervention that had not previously been suggested. Within a week or two my husband was experiencing significant relief. He has continued to improve. Dr. Chiaramonte also made other helpful suggestions regarding sleep and she did research and provided us with a tremendous number of relevant local referrals regarding other possible interventions. We have not needed to pursue them at this time but they are available to us should the need arise. - Sarah B., M.D. I had been in constant pain for over 20 months. I was not my normal, happy self. I was nasty to my co-workers, and then I would come home and yell at my children and be rude to my wife. I knew I was acting badly but I simply had no energy left to face life's little problems. I tried everything that was suggested to me: painkillers, stretching exercises, acupuncture, physical therapy, spinal injections, massage therapy, chemical nerve blocks. Some of these things gave me temporary relief, but the possibility that I would spend the rest of my life in pain and acting like a jerk seemed more and more real. Dr. Chiaramonte spent a very long time listening to me and asking me interesting questions. She suggested a course of action that no one else had considered; this came from her very broad knowledge of medicine. Within weeks my pain was very significantly reduced -- my co-workers tell me my sense of humor is back. I come home at the end of the day and play with my children instead of losing mytemper with them. I feel great! Thank you, Dr. Chiaramonte! - Barry B. I contacted Dr. Chiaramonte because of my intense frustration with my current medical treatment for an aortic aneurysm, and with the medical profession in general. In my opinion, the current program of patient care, medical diagnosis, and medical treatment in the US is completely and utterly broken, and is desperately in need of overhaul. Please note that I am a 30-year mechanical engineer by profession, and not given to trivial or whimsical positions. I have researched and analyzed this situation very carefully prior to forming the opinion stated in this testimonial.
